Mbizi Bush Lodge sits on an unfenced property within Grietjie Game Reserve, allowing elephants to walk through camp and drink from the pool daily. The lodge has only 4 private accommodations, ensuring a small-group experience with close wildlife encounters from the deck and terrace. An outdoor pool and veranda overlook the Northern Drakensbergs and a waterhole visited by elephants, lions, giraffes, and antelope.
Accommodation
Each room offers a private bathroom with shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries, plus air conditioning and a fan. Guests have a minibar, tea-and-coffee-making facilities, and a safe in the room. Bedding is comfortable with a queen or double bed; rooms are serviced daily by friendly staff.
Dining
Mbizi Bush Lodge serves a full breakfast and a 3-course dinner each day, with menus changing daily and featuring dishes like ostrich and authentic Indian curry. An honesty bar provides drinks, and guests can enjoy meals on the terrace with views of the waterhole. Special diet menus are available on request, and an espresso/cappuccino machine is accessible anytime.
Game Drives & Location
Game drives in the Balule Private Reserve are led by owner Bjorn, a knowledgeable ranger, and cost R400 per person per drive. The lodge is 32 km from Kruger National Park's Phalaborwa Gate and 33.5 km from Hans Merensky Golf Club. Full-day trips to Kruger can be arranged, and walking safaris are also offered.
